NorCal Defense is based in Redding, California. We specialize in firearm training with an emphasis on the legal carrying/use of handguns. We help people achieve a greater level of personal security through classroom and range training.
Our Services
We offer NRA Basic Pistol and Rifle Training and CCW training (Please note that the NRA is not affiliated with our CCW class). We also offer an advanced pistol course. We believe that the greatest tool you have is your mind, not your firearm. Being aware of your surroundings is key in keeping yourself safe. You win every fight you don't get in.
What is a CCW?
CCW stands for "carrying concealed weapon." In the state of California it is illegal to carry a concealed firearm unless you are permitted to by the proper authorities. Each County/City has different requirements and standards you must meet in order to obtain a permit.
What are the requirements for attaining a CCW Permit?
Each County Sheriff / City Police Chief has different requirements/standards that he/she puts forth. These requirements can vary widely depending on the region of California you're from. The best way to determine the requirements for your county/city is to visit your local Sheriff/Police Chief's website and research the topic. Typically they will have this information readily available. Generally you are required to attend an approved class that is usually 8 hours of classroom instruction and 4 hours of range instruction/qualification for a total of 12 hours. As of January 1st 2019 the state of California requires that each CCW applicant qualify at an approved range with the firearm(s) being listed on their permit.
